GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT AĞRI
Ağrı is a border city in east part of Turkey. It is located in an altitude of 1600 meters and population of 100 thousand. Ağrı is a historical city and prehistoric centre for the world culture. Ağrı/Ararat Mountain lying behind the city is the highest mountain of Turkey.

Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University is a state university, which has been established in 2007 by separation from Atatürk University. Originally it was established as the Faculty of Education of the Atatürk University in 1992.

MISSION

PRACTICAL INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS
COST OF LIVING
Students are required to pay 175 (80 €) Turkish Lira (TL) as deposit and 90 TL (about 41 €) as monthly fee to the Higher Education Credit and Dormitory Institution the state dormitory for accommodation in Ağrı province.
Home rental prices range from 200 TL (92 €) to 700 TL (320 €) in Ağrı for students. 150 (75 €) to 300 (150 €) TL is needed for leisure time and personal spending. Regarding healthcare service; if a student does not benefit from any social security institution, İbrahim Çeçen University of Ağrı provides a document that is for health service for him/her and then he/she shall pay not the whole but a percentage of the total cost.
Spending for course materials is about 50 (23 €)-100 TL (46 €).
ACCOMMODATION
All dormitories situated on and off campus can accommodate approximately 3000 students. The university has one guesthouse on campus having a capacity of 30 staff.
There is a state dormitory in Faculty of Education campus. Students are required to pay 175 (80 €) Turkish Lira (TL) as deposit and 90 TL (about 41 €) as monthly fee.
There are also four private dormitories in Ağrı. Private dormitories’ price ranges from 90 (41 €) to 150 TL (69 €) as monthly fee.

FOOD
Lunch is served at the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Science and Letters and the High School. Although everyone is required to pay money for this service, our university provides this services free of charge for 110 students who have financial difficulties.

There are canteens, cafeterias, dining halls and restaurants which cater for students during the academic year.

The university is very close to the hospital and health care services.
Document for health services with little cost is provided for students, who do not benefit from any social security institution.
Facilities For Students with Different Abilities and Need Special Attention
As we are newly established university, there are physical arrangements (such as ramp access, toilet, and elevator) for students with different abilities in our new buildings.
INSURANCE
In accordance with the law no 5510, our university is obliged to pay social insurance contributions within the scope of occupation accident and illnesses of students, who apply to carry our internship here.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
110 students benefit from the Rector Scholarship as of 2009-2010 Academic Year.

STUDY AND RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
LIBRARY
The library of İbrahim Çeçen University of Ağrı is established to enable the students of faculties and institutes, and staff to study, do research, take and give courses, and provide them with required materials and services of library. It has many historical books and collections. Colleges and departments have their own libraries.
The library covers approximately 201 m2 and has a capacity of 85 readers. It also serves to high school students and Ağrı society for studies about research and development. Our library has 12.449 books, 228 periodicals and 400 thesis about various fields.
Our library is open from 8.00 to 22-00 on weekdays and from 9.00 to 15.00 at weekends in the academic year. Everyone whether a member of Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University or not may use our library on 6 days of a week.
Computer Center and Conference Halls
The computer centre is equipped with the latest technology and infrastructure, allowing distance learning. University conference center includes an art gallery and two conference halls. Faculties and other units have their meeting saloons.
TRANSPORTATION
National and international access is possible by air and land.
There is regular highway transportation from neighborhood districts and provinces as well as big cities to Ağrı and vice versa.

LANGUAGE COURSES
There is a English language Course for academic staff in our university. English course also is thought for students.
Internship
40 days internship is compulsory for students, who attend the High School. They can carry out it either in Ağrı or any other provinces.
SPORT FACILITIES
Youthness, competition and sports festivals are arranged nationally as well as organized in various branches on campus by faculties and colleges.
There are tournaments of football, wrist wrestling, athleticism, volleyball, chess, table tennis, basketball and badminton within the scope of Spring Festival organized by our University.
There is a sport hall, which provides sport activities to students, in the Faculty of Education. Our university will have wider opportunities in the near future in terms of social and sporting activities after completion of the new campus.
Out of School and Leisure Time Activities
3 days out of a week are determined as movie days as of 2009-2010 Academic Year. Movies are run in the Nezehat Çeçen Conference Hall.
Moreover, there is theater and folk dance activities performed either by our University’s Theater Club or other institutions’ clubs, seminars, conferences are performed in the same Conference Hall.
